Learning and serving together in the light of God's love
We are proud to work with all the Catholic schools across our two local authority areas, particularly as the Trust grows and benefits from the expertise and knowledge that other schools joining in the future will bring.
Visit UsCollective Worship at St Joseph's takes place every day and can take many forms; whole school assemblies, class prayers or class collective worship. Friends, families and parishioners are welcome to join us for our special services.
Each day begins and ends in prayer. Some of the prayers we say are listed below.
We gather every week for assembly and collective worship and to share the Gospel from Mass. We do this on a Monday afternoon.
Significant feast days are celebrated throughout the Liturgical year. Whole school Mass is celebrated at church to mark the beginning and end of the school year as well as during Lent and Advent.
The school has an active prayer life daily and also have special events throughout the Liturgical year. During Lent, the staff and parish join together in prayer during a Lenten lunch. During May, the staff, children, parents and parishioners join in a Marion Procession from church to the school field.
Families are encouraged to worship together at home. During Advent, a travelling crib is sent home, with prayers, for families to enjoy this special time together. Father John visits school regularly to visit the children and support the catechesis in the classrooms.
Catholic Life & Mission and Collective Worship Lead is Mrs Land.
Oh my God I give to you
All that I think I say to You
All my work and all my play
I will give to you God today
Amen.
Bless us O God as we sit together,
Bless the food we eat today,
Bless the hands that make the food,
Bless us O God.
Amen.
God our Father I come to say,
Thank you for your love today,
Thank you for my family
And all the friends you give to me,
Guard me in the dark of night,
And in the morning send your light.
Amen.
