Pupil Premium Impact Statement 2017 2018

Pupil Premium Impact Statement 2017/2018

During the academic year 2017/2018 we have targeted our spending according to the needs of the Pupil Premium children across the three phases. Therefore EYFS, KS1 and KS2 have had their own spending grid. This has been an effective way to help the SLT and Governors track the spending and monitor the impact of the Pupil Premium. A large focus of expenditure across school has been placed on accelerating progress and therefore closing the attainment gap between Pupil Premium and all children.

EYFS Progress & Attainment

The progress of our 8 Pupil Premium children this year has been excellent. All Pupil Premium children made expected and better than expected progress from their Baseline assessment. 77% of all children achieved a Good Level of Development (GLD), with 75% of Pupil Premium children achieving their GLD (6 out of 8 children). The 2 children who did not meet their GLD are also SEND.

Year 1 Phonics

Progress in Phonics is closely monitored following a baseline assessment at the start of Y1. All Pupil Premium children have made very clear progress. Of the 6 Pupil Premium children taking their Phonics Screening Check, 4 passed. Although this sits us below the national average, 3 of the 4 Pupil Premium children who passed did not gain their Good Level of Development at Reception. The accelerated progress of these children is excellent and strong evidence that we are closing the gap. The 2 children who did not pass are also SEND.

KS1 Progress & Attainment

The attainment of the 10 Pupil Premium children in Key Stage 1 was variable. We are very proud that the percentage of Pupil Premium children meeting the expected level in Writing is above National and that Pupil Premium children are attaining at least inline, if not better than all children in school in reaching the expected level in Reading and Greater Depth Standard in Maths.

With regards to progress from EYFS, 60% of the Pupil Premium group achieved their Good Level of Development. We are delighted that one child who did not achieve their GLD has accelerated progress in Reading and achieved the expected standard and 2 children have accelerated progress in Writing and have met the end of year expectation. We acknowledge that overall attainment for Pupil Premium children, particularly for those meeting the expected level in Maths and Greater Depth Standard in Y3 need accelerating. Accelerated progress is Maths is also a key area. These are now school priorities and are targets in our School Improvement Plan and Staff Appraisals.

KS2 Progress & Attainment

Attainment for Pupil Premium children meeting the expected standard in Maths and Combined were relatively inline with National. However, Reading and Writing attainment was well above National. The percentage of Pupil Premium children working at Greater Depth standard is pleasing above National in Reading but below in all other areas and below when compared to all children in school. As previously stated, the progress and attainment of Pupil Premium children is a whole school priority and is referenced within our School Improvement Plan and Teacher Appraisals.
