Key Stage 1
Key stage 1 comprises Year 1 and Year 2 classes. Year 1 children are age 5 or 6 and Year 2 children are age 6 or 7. Our Key Stage 1 teachers are Miss Warne (Assistant Headteacher and Key Stage 1 Leader), Miss Horrocks (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Bray.
KS1 children are taught in our infant building alongside our Foundation stage children. They attend school from 8.55am to 3.15pm with a morning break at 10.40am until 10.55am and a lunch hour at midday. During their breaks and depending on the weather conditions, they play outside in the infant playground or on our playing fields.
Our children at KS1 are taught in classes according to their age rather than ability. Depending on numbers, classes may include mixed years, but each child’s passage through school is carefully planned so that whichever class they are in during any year, their needs are met. In addition, our teachers plan topics together to ensure that work is never repeated.
